The It’s OUR City! campaign underwent a complete re-invigoration this weekend with an incredibly successful Campaign Day in Hightown. Passers-by were treated to the sight of just how BIG the campaign had become with a recreation of what the petition really looked like. At over 10 metres long by two and a half meters high it was an impressive sight.
“What a fantastic day,” commented Cllr Mark Hubbard, “we’ve had some great street debates today, but we have no doubt about the support enjoyed by the It’s OUR City! campaign. The Chair of the ESG board of directors spent almost as much time as we did down here – which I can only take as a compliment!”
It’s OUR City! achieved a rate of more than two signatures a minute for the four hours they were campaigning, with very few visitors and even fewer local people not agreeing with their campaign.
“It’s been great to see Philippa, Sarah and Jesse – Labour, Lib Dem & Tory all turn up during the day. I guess it’s because there’s a general election on & they all want to join OUR party,” added Cllr Julie Woodward “It’d be nice if the one that wins follows through on today’s action, after all, it looked very like they all wanted to agree with the It’s OUR City Campaign!”
